At about 2:30 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of a single vehicle crash that took place on Interstate 75, just a bit north of State Road 60. They believe that Ronald L. Green, 31 abruptly lost control of the Maserati he was driving. The vehicle jumped the center median before slamming into the guardrail. The force of the impact caused the Maserati to flip over the barrier. It landed Woodberry Road where it caught on fire. Both the driver, Green, and his passenger were thrown free of the car.
Green, along with Sariyah Green, 9, and Ronald L. Green III, 5 were reported dead at the scene of the accident. Tiffany Lasha Young, 26 was transported to Tampa General Hospital to receive treatment for the serious injuries she sustained during the accident.
Growing up, Green’s future looked bright. He was a skilled offensive tackle who played on Tampa’s Howard W. Blake High School football team. After being accepted to Mississippi Valley State University, he joined their football program and spent 2007-2007 as a defensive tackle for the team. He and Young had met approximately 10 years prior and were a very happy couple. The family reports that both Green and Young were a solid couple who worked hard to provide their children with a loving and stable environment. At the time of the accident, the family was in route to a family function.
It’s unclear just how well acquainted Green was with his car. It was a recent addition to his life having been purchased less than 3 months prior to the accident. At this time, no one knows how much time he’d spent driving the car and learning how it handled.
At this point, the police are still trying to learn as much as they can about the accident and trying to understand what caused the car to jump the median and flip over the guard rail. What every good Tampa wrongful death lawyer does know is that Green and Young’s family shouldn’t become passive about the accident. It’s in their best interest to nag the authorities and learn as much as possible about the accident.
Knowing exactly what happened during and just before the accident will help both the family and the Tampa wrongful death lawyer determine if something could have been done to prevent the accident from taking place. Things that should be investigated include the overall condition of the section of the road where the accident took place. If the vehicle responded to properly to driver demands, and if there was a mechanical failure that caused the car to ignite.
Before filing a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court, the victim’s loved ones and the Tampa wrongful death attorney need to determine the amount of punitive and emotional damages they should demand in the lawsuit.
If you find yourself in need of a Tampa personal injury attorney, the best time to contact the lawyer is within days of the accident taking place. The sooner you speak to the attorney, the sooner you’ll gain closure.
